Trick your mind for a better winter.

Winter is upon us. The official first day was last year on the 21st of Dec. Now its the long march to spring, and another summer.

The cold isn't that bad were I live in California. Its that particular color of gray sky that can be a drag. Actually, its the gray skies anywhere. This kind of overcast weather can put people in a number of different moods. They call it SAD, Seasonal affective disorder, also called winter depression or winter blues.
People get it to one degree or another. There is a ton of info on line on ways to combat it.

As for me, A couple of years ago I noticed something interesting.
Movies/Films with a lot of sunshine in them made me feel better.
Not like I was in a sauna or something , just generally better.

I actually felt just a tad bit warmer as I sit and watched these movies. Movies like " Bridge on the River Kwai ", "Lawrence of Arabia ", or any film with a lot of sunlight. And I felt better mentally and physically . You may have experienced this before yourself.
There you are watching "Laurence of Arabia" in the middle of summer , and
you feel like its hotter then it actually is because it takes place in the middle of a scorching desert.

I hope to post on this subject again later in the season, with a list of VERY sunny films. In the mean time don't wait on me. Go check the IMDB and Netflix
to see whats out there. Human memory being what it is , it may take you a while to remember all those those movies that gave you a real warm and fuzzy feeling.

One more thing, stay away from "Ice Station Zebra", save that one for this coming summer.
